Overview:

Overview: Research Analyst program is a two year fixed term role that requires candidates to contribute to consulting, benchmarking and research projects under the direct or indirect supervision of more tenured staff. Suitable candidates will have excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work and think through problems in a self-directed manner. Candidates are required to contribute to a wide range of projects, including ad hoc consulting engagements and ongoing research and benchmarking programs.

Detailed Description: Successful Research Analysts will be required to excel in a wide range of competencies including:
• Analysis: ability to generate insightful and error free analyses of quantitative and qualitative data derived from surveys, benchmarking studies and consulting projects.
• Problem Solving: ability to develop and articulate logically sound solutions to research, consulting, benchmarking and other problems that arise in the course of day-to-day activities around the office. Successful candidates will be able to identify the relevant issues, source, evaluate and analyze relevant data, and articulate the problem and possible solutions to clients and co-workers.
• Communication: ability to articulate to clients and associates the findings of research, benchmarking and consulting work in a clear and engaging manner, including by example:
   - Report outlining and copy writing o Presentation development o Document editing, revision and commentary
   -  Direct client communication in-person and via the telephone o Group presentations
• Management: ability to anticipate and plan for the requirements of a particular task, execute the task in a timely manner and know when to ask for help. Over time, successful employees must demonstrate the ability to take over the management of larger portions of research, benchmarking and consulting projects.
• Client Relations: ability to represent McKinsey & Company’s Global Concepts office to clients in a manner that is professional and maintains or elevates the Firm’s good standing in the eyes of its clientele.

Desired Skills: Successful candidates will have the courage to speak-out in a respectful manner when they have an opinion or an issue to raise to their peers, clients and the industry as a whole.
In addition, candidates should have the following characteristics:
• Self-motivated
• Ability to quickly learn a given area within the payments industry
• High degree of curiosity about the payments industry
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.  Please note that we require both local language and English language fluency for all positions in countries where English is not the native language.

Background / Training:

Background/Training:
• Bachelors degree from a four year accredited college or university with demonstrated course work in key subject areas such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering
• Candidates must be competent with Microsoft Office applications
• Working knowledge of SPSS is a plus
• Preference will be given to candidates with excellent written communication skills as demonstrated through written samples provided to the GCI office
• Demonstrated research work during their college career (could be for a class or internship)
