Taylor Vaughan, Senior Vice President, Treasury Management Services, First Tennessee Bank Ray Gatland, Senior Vice President, Treasury Services Product Solutions, Wachovia Denton Lee, Vice President, Treasury Management, First Citizens Bank |

In early 2005, Global Concepts hosted some of the first discussions around corporate remote capture. It was a fledgling product with lots of hope (maybe hype) and high expectations. In 2008, most banks offer remote capture, or plan to soon, and many are offering different flavors of the service. The panelists will provide their thoughts on where we’ve come over the past 3 years, what challenges have been encountered along the way and some insights into whether remote capture has lived up to expectations. The panel will also discuss new regulatory issues on the horizon, risk management for remote capture as more customers gain access to the product as well as what the future holds for remote capture. Finally, the panel will address your questions/challenges (such as business owners’ personal deposits coming through remote capture) and share their views on a number of issues and concerns. |

A recent amendment to the NACHA Operating Rules requires all international payments made via ACH to be identified as an International ACH Transaction using a new SEC code—IAT. The new IAT rule also requires that IAT payments include specific data elements as defined by the Bank Secrecy Act’s Travel rule. The implementation date of this rule amendment is March 20, 2009. This session takes a look at the international payments market and provides a detailed overview of the new opportunities and challenges associated with the new IAT code. | Small Groups: The Credit Crunch and What it Means for Treasury Services |
| Time: |
8:55 AM - 9:55 AM |
| Description: |
Words that we might like to forget from 2007-08 are sub-prime mortgages, CDOs, naked options and “highly leveraged”. For a lot of banks, the credit led crisis has caused huge losses; both financial (through loan write-downs) and human capital (layoffs). The financial industry has suffered a huge blow from a liquidity standpoint as well as put into question the integrity of the banking system with recent failures of regional banks such as IndyMac Bank. While the degree to which banks were affected varies, the one thing that is certain is even though this may have started on the credit side of the house; it will impact the transaction side of the business as well. In the spirit of in-depth discussion, Forum participants will have the opportunity to discuss the impact of the market on product development, product sales and relationship management. Ribbens will also share with the group the results of a Forum web survey on the topic while facilitating interactive dialogue. |

Vorrasi will discuss strategies for encouraging clients to use check image downloads, electronic statements, and CD-ROMs. In addition, Vorrasi will lead a discussion of other areas where “green strategies” can payoff with clients. |
